Biofuels

Biofuels – liquid fuels derived from plant materials are divided into Bioethanol and Biodiesel products.

Bioethanol is an alcohol made by fermenting the sugar components of plant materials and it is made mostly from sugar and starch crops. With advanced technology being developed, cellulosic biomass, such as trees and grasses, are also used as feedstocks for ethanol production. Ethanol can be used as a fuel for vehicles in its pure form, but it is usually used as a gasoline additive to increase octane and improve vehicle emissions. Bioethanol is widely used in the USA and in Brazil.

We are currently building an ethanol distillery to produce bioethanol fuel for running our vehicles and machinery on the farm. Currently, we will be using starch and sugar foods from local retailers as our feedstock but in the near future we plan on growing our own crops to feed to the distillery.

Note: Automobiles that are 10 years or younger can run on 85% ethanol and 15% unleaded gasoline with no modifications. So that means the vast majority of your fuel will be from renewable energy. You can either produce it yourself or purchase it from an enthanol service station. Using biofuels will eliminate up to 98% of greenhouse gas emissions, burns cleaner without leaving any residue and is a renewable energy source.
